Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Shinti and Shinti looooved to go swimming in the river with her mama. During the hot summer days, they would try to go swimming at the river at LEAST once a week and more often if they had time.
One day Shinti was getting ready to go to the river. She already had her shoes on and her bathing suit on and her clothes on.
She was in the kitchen packing her bag for lunch and snacks to bring with her. She had some eggs and some veggies and some nuts, and all the usual things they brought to the river.
Then she noticed that there was some honey on the counter and for some reason she felt like putting the honey in the cooler bag with her to put in her backpack. She put the honey in even though they didn't usually bring honey to the rive and then she finished getting ready.
After that, she went to ask her mama if her mama needed help getting ready and, a few minutes later, they were on their way in the car driving to the river.
They parked their car and walked to the river and had a lovely day, all day long swimming and splashing in the water... picking up rocks and looking at the different sticks that they found. It was just such a lovely refreshing way to spend a hot, hot summer day.
I was getting later in the afternoon when Shinti's mama looked down the river. And she said, "I thought that was a dog. But look, there's a bear down there!" And Shinti looked, and sure enough, she could see a bear down there, too.
Her mama said, it's not very safe to get too close to wild animals. Especially if she's a mama bear and she has a baby nearby, she might be extra protective of her baby. So I think we better get out of here pretty quickly....But if only we had something to distract the bear and keep it busy while we get back to the car..."
Shinti said, "I know, Mama! Bears like honey."
Her mama said, "Well, I think they might like honey. But what good does that do us? We don't have any honey anyhow. Why would we bring honey to the river?"
Shinti said, "Well actually, mama, for some reason. I just decided to pack some honey today. So we could use that!"
So they decided that was a good plan. They took out the honey and they poured it all over a rock, then they packed up their stuff and started walking as quickly as they could up the riverbank.
When they got to the top of the trail they turned back to look down the river and there was the bear, stopped at the rock licking off all the honey. When they got back to the car, Shinti's mama said, "Shinti, I'm so glad you brought the honey! That was a good idea to distract the bear...But what I don't understand Shinti, is why did you bring the honey to the river to begin with?"
Shinti said, "I don't know, Mama. Today when I was packing my lunch. I just... I saw the honey and I noticed it and I just felt like putting it in my bag for some reason. But I don't really know why I did it. I'm just glad I did it."
Her mama said, "Well, Shinti, I think that that's what they call your intuition. It's when you just have a feeling about something or a sense of something or a thought pops into your head about something and you might not be able to explain it. But look at how that helped us out a few hours later. And if you hadn't listened to that intuition, and you hadn't brought the honey, then we wouldn't have had it there to distract the bear. And shinty said yeah, I guess you're right, Mom, I guess I better listen and pay attention to those times when I have a feeling like that or a thought that pops into my head. And if I guess that's what you call my intuition, right. So I think intuition is a pretty useful thing. And I want to keep listening to it because today really showed me that I was glad that I did bring that honey when her mama said I was glad to thanks so much and I hope you keep listening to your intuition also. Okay, Shanti that's the end of the story. How is the end of shinty and the river bank? And now it might be time. Well, I don't remember the story of Bhante, that's one problem But the other time is that it's probably almost time for you to close your eyes and go to sleep. So on this recording I'm gonna say that I love you in that I hope that you have beautiful dreams of rainbows and butterflies and dolphins and fireworks and bunny rabbits and Lammi and what else? One yam and lambs and what else? Rafi and Rafi I hope you have sweet sweet dreams tonight and I love you so much. And dream about me new an APA and have lovely sweet dreams together. Okay, that's all how can I help? I love you. When are you really strong? It it's time to go to sleep. So close your eyes. I love you
